Chichibu Shrine
Chichibu Shrine is the historic guardian shrine of the Chichibu region, and the current shrine building was constructed during the Edo period by order of Ieyasu Tokugawa.
The shrine is adorned with various carvings, such as “Tsunagi no Ryu (Chained Dragon)” carved by the legendary artist Hidari Jingoro. There is a lot of things to see!
The shrine is illuminated until 8:00PM, so you can enjoy its beauty without rushing.
The festival “Chichibu Night Festival,” held on December 3rd every year, is designated as a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. It is also regarded as one of the “Japan’s top three great float festivals” along with the Gion Festival in Kyoto and Takayama Festival in Hida.
